It is used all over the world for everything from simple websites to complex corporate applications.

Joomla! is easy to install, simple to manage, and reliable. Yacht Parts has used Joomla as the basis of it's new website, as it gives us the flexibility that we need dealing with such a diverse array of products and services as well as allowing us to expand our website whenever we need to, and giving us complete control.

VirtueMart is an Open Source E-Commerce solution to be used together with a Content Management System (CMS) called Joomla! (but also works with Mambo).

Joomla and VirtueMart are written in PHP and made for easy use in a PHP / MySQL environment.

Yacht Parts has taken the basic Virtuemart system and customised it to fit with our requirements. Like Joomla! Virtuemart is FREE and it also has a vibrant developer community which is very active in extending the capabilities of Virtuemart.

There are many ways to make your Joomla! powered website look the way you want it too, as Joomla! is free, many sites and individuals make free templates for Joomla! - if you are good with coding, you can even make your own ... for our website, we cheated a little and used a template from www.rockettheme.com it has been customised a little, but if you take a second look, you will see that it if derived from the 'Equinox' theme from Rocket Theme.

Rocket Theme provide some free templates and modules for Joomla! as well as some very impressive commercial ones, you have to pay to use these templates, but sometimes this is worthwhile, as it saves a great deal of time in setting up a more complex site - like ours!

There are many many other individuals and organisations which have been instrumental in creating the new Yacht Parts website, and once I have managed to upload several thousand more products, I will endeavour to list and thank every single one of them :)
